SDCC is wrapping up on this Sunday and let’s just say that if you’re a movie or TV buff, then this was not the year for you. With the SAG/Writers strike still ongoing, Hollywood has basically shut down with only a handful of productions given the green light to continue. What this means for the future is delays a plenty similar to when COVID hit.
Comic Book fans, however, have been elated this weekend with a slew of announcements including a new Punisher and DC’s Justice League taking on Godzilla and King Kong!
Wait…
What was that last part. Do you mean that Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman and the rest are going to battle the friggin’ MONSTEVERSE?!
You heard me right.
Yesterday, it was announced that the new 7 issue event series will be called Justice League vs. Godzilla vs. Kong and will showcase Earth’s greatest super heroes taking on Earth’s most formidable monsters.

The series will start off simple enough with the Justice League battling the Legion of Doom and that’s when the shit hits the fan as the wall between our world and the monsters is breached assembling Godzilla, Kong, and the other MonsterVerse creations wrecking DC’s Earth!

DC President, Publisher, and Chief Creative Officer Jim Lee stated:
“As a comics fan—there’s nothing more fun and exciting than exploring those amazing ‘What If’ situations that come up when fandoms cross streams! In this case, it’s a matchup of the world’s greatest Super Heroes in the Justice League who take on not only the King of the Monsters—Godzilla—but the mighty Kong himself! It’s a crossover no-holds-barred battle, decades in the making, and no bona fide comics fan will want to miss it!”
As a lifelong fan of both IPs, this is a dream come true. To see iconic heroes taking on iconic monsters in the ultimate battle royale is the stuff of fanboy legend. Watching Superman circle around Godzilla while Batman uses his bravado, skills and gadgetry to fight Kong will be EPIC. This is certainly one crossover that I didn’t think I would se in my lifetime.
The limited series event will be a collaboration with both DC, Legendary Comics, and Toho International companies. It will be written by Brian Buccellato who has done some masterful work on past series like The Flash, Injustice, and Detective Comics while Christian Duce who is responsible for Batman/Fortnite: Zero Point will handle the artwork.
Justice League vs. Godzilla vs. Kong will hit as issue #1 releases on October 17, 2023! Check out some of the illustrious artwork below!
