The sequel to Gerard Butler’s Den of Thieves just got some serious fighting cred as UFC champion Michael Bisping (Triple Threat) has enlisted for the following joining Butler and other returning cast member O’Shea Jackson Jr.
Bisping did appear in the previous outing and is set to return for Den of Thieves 2: Pantera once again as Connor who showed up at the end of the last movie.
The first film had a grittier and more bad ass tone then Heat which it was compared too and Butler created another memorable character in embattled special unit police officer Big Nick. The finale was a massive assault on the streets so here’s hoping the sequel goes bigger and badder.
In the sequel, Big Nick is back on the hunt on the mean-streets of Europe closing in on Donnie who is embroiled in the dangerous world of diamond thieves and the infamous Panther mafia, as they plot a massive heist of the world’s biggest diamond exchange. The original 2018 movie, also directed and written by Gudegast, and released by STX, made a near $45M stateside and over $80M WW.
I always felt like the first film was like the bad seed of Heat and even though the finale never quite topped the latter, it came damn close. Heat will always be a master class in the genre of cops and robbers but Den made you fell dirty but in a good way.
Bisping is also set to appear on the big screen reboot of Red Sonja for Millennium. The MMA icon has featured in action films prominently with other titles including xXx: The Return of Xander Cage, Twin Peaks, Warrior, and Never Back Down: Revolt.
