Lionsgate Announces JOHN WICK 5 & Spin-Offs Now in Development!

This article contains spoilers so if you haven’t seen John Wick Chapter 4 then stop reading. By the way, if you call yourself an action cinema aficionado and still haven’t seen it…well shame on you.

Good news coming out of the Lionsgate Q4 2023 earnings call in which Motion Picture Group chairman Joe Drake officially announced that John Wick: Chapter 5 is officially in early development. To add to it, he also confirmed there are massive plans to expand the newly appointed shared Wick Wick Universe into spin-offs, including television series, and video games. The feature film Ballerina is in post production and the limited series The Continental hits Peacock later this year so the spin-offs are officially on the way.

We’re now moving across that franchise, not just in the AAA video game space, but looking at what the regular cadence of spin-offs, television really growing that universe so that there is a steady cadence of a franchise that there’s clear appetite by the audience. What is official is that, as you know, Ballerina is the first spinoff that comes out next year. We’re in development on three others, including John Wick 5 and including television series. The Continental will be airing soon. And so, we’re building out the world and when that five movie comes, will be organic — will be organically grown out of how we’re starting to tell those stories. But you can rely on a regular cadence of John Wick.”

We all know that Chapter 4 ended with Wick joining his beloved wife in the afterlife, or so it seemed, so it’s intriguing to see where the franchise goes on from here. Director Chad Stahelski has gone on the record saying that a fifth film wouldn’t happen right if at all. Donnie Yen’s character of Caine definitely needs a spin-off whether it take place before or after the events of Chapter 4. That’s a given.

John Wick Chapter 4 hit Digital this week ahead of its home video launch on 4K, Blu-Ray, and DVD. Even if a fifth film is a ways away, it’s still comforting to know that we will get to see spin-offs in the meantime. Plus, Reeves is said to cameo in Ballerina along with Ian McShane and the late Lance Reddick.

Lock ‘N’ Load for future intel on the Wick universe as we are your destination for everything action and John Wick!!!
