Yes, I was one of the few that thought The Gray Man was underwhelming in terms of its execution (sue me for I’ll defend my opinion tooth and nail) but that doesn’t matter as Netflix is going ahead with plans for a sequel and a prequel…at least for now although they are prepping this to be their ultimate franchise.
According to the reports, The Gray Man sequel is currently in development, with Ryan Gosling and directors Joe and Anthony Russo all set to return. The Russos and AGBO‘s Mike Larocca will once again produce along with Joe Roth and Jeffrey Kirschenbaum for Roth Kirschenbaum. Stephen McFeely will pen the script.

There is also a spinoff of The Gray Man that is written by Deadpool scribes Paul Wernick and Rhett Reece and this spin-off will explore a different aspect of The Gray Man universe. Plot details are under lock and key of course.
It was mentioned that Netflix wanted to do a prequel series of movies that would focus on Chris Evans’ character of Lloyd Hansen but it’s unclear if that is still happening.
“The audience reaction to The Gray Man has been nothing short of phenomenal. We are so appreciative of the enthusiasm that fans across the world have had for this film. With so many amazing characters in the movie, we had always intended for the Gray Man to be part of an expanded universe, and we are thrilled that Netflix is announcing a sequel with Ryan, as well as a second script that we’re excited to talk about soon,” the Russos said in an official statement.
Well, I saw this coming so hopefully they will improve on what didn’t work in the first film. Can we have action sequences that don’t take place in a fog please? Just saying. Stay tuned and keep it locked and loaded right here for more to follow.
