Back in April, I shared the rather awesome looking new trailer for South Korean director Choi Jae-Hoon’s (The Swordsman) latest bullet infested assassin action spectacle The Killer (not to be confused with John Woo’s 80’s action masterpiece) which checked all the boxes necessary for genre fans to enjoy. That trailer has since been taken down but that’s OK because we have a new U.S. domestic trailer along with rad key art courtesy of Wide Lens Pictures and Shaw Entertainment who are bringing the film here in July.
Reuniting Choi Jae-Hoon with his The Swordsman star Jang Hyundai, this newer tease features all the balletic, bloody action that the first one did with some new surprises. Check it out below!
Official Synopsis: The hit man’s last mission: Keep the girl safe and sound. Ui-kang is a retired hit man. While his wife goes on a trip with her friend, she asks him a special favor to take care of her friend’s daughter. He doesn’t want to be bothered by the teenage girl but Yoon-ji gets stuck with juvenile delinquents and Ui-kang unavoidably uses a little bit of violence to protect her. However strangely, the juvenile delinquents are found dead and things start to get serious. Even worse, Yoon-ji is kidnapped by a teenager trafficking unit and Ui-kang is suspected of murder. He cannot fail his wife, he must get Yoon-ji back.

Jang Hyuk stars along with Anne, Lee Seung-joon, Bang Eun-junj and Kim Hae-woong. The Killer made its official premiere at this year’s Far East Film Festival which ran from April 22nd to the 30th.
There’s no shortage of high-caliber mayhem in the new trailer and this film is another prime example that South Korea is still absolutely crushing it when it comes to delivering all out-action extravaganzas. This one has certainly made it onto my most anticipated watch list with its balletic action set pieces that include firepower and fisticuffs.
Collider brought the exclusive word that The Killer will be hitting select U.S. theaters on July. In the article, Producer and CEO of Wide Lens Pictures Mark W. Shaw hyped up the film’s release and what fans can expect from South Korea’s latest full throttle import:
“We are very excited to be able to announce the day-and-date release on July 13th of ‘The Killer’ in the U.S. and with our partners in South Korea, Ascendio/iHQ. Jang Hyuk, the lead actor, is an action veteran with a huge global following. He has trained particularly hard for this film, and meticulously choreographed all the fight sequences and stunts. Audiences are already huge fans of gritty Korean action films, but combined with the tremendous growth in popularity of Korean web-comics which ‘The Killer’ is based on, we are sure fans will love our movie.”
Along with the trailer debut, Collider also debuted new images of the film showcasing Hyuk in action.

Unfortunately, The Killer will be playing nowhere near where I live so I’ll be patiently awaiting further streaming and/or home video release info for this one so I may partake in all the wonderfully choreographed mayhem and carnage that will be on display.
The Killer will hit hit select theaters on July 13th so keep it locked and loaded right here for more details on a wider release in the future as we are your destination for everything action in 2022 and beyond!
