It’s hard to believe that it’s been two years already since stuntman turned filmmaker Sam Hargrave’s exceptional action-thriller Extraction came out. The film, which starred Chris Hemsworth, was a saving grace as it hit Netflix as soon as the pandemic started and the movie theaters were closing. With theatrical films getting delayed like it was free, Netflix swooped in and delivered us a two hour distraction from all our troubles with Hemsworth knocking it out of the park with the birth of a new action hero.
A sequel was green lit almost immediately with talk of more projects to come out of this new universe so things are looking good for Tyler Rake who did appear dead in the last film.
The sequel officially began production last year and now Hargrave has taken to social media to confirm that principal photography has wrapped on the film which was shooting in Prague. Check out Hargrave’s post below!
Chris Hemsworth actually finished shooting his scenes last week and shared a video of him thanking the cast and crew for an unbelievable experience.
With the release of a teaser last year, we can confirm that Rake survives the ordeal from the last film as it shows him coming to in the water and swimming to the surface. Where the sequel goes from there is anybody’s guess as plot details are top secret. From earlier images we know that it’ll be snowy this time around so that will add a different element to this entry.
The original took place within the dangerous underworld of arms dealers and traffickers where mercenary Tyler Rake protecting a young boy who was ensnared in a war between rival drug lords one of which being his father. The action set pieces were first rate and the Netflix original movie became one of the services most watched films receiving a whopping 90 million views.
The sequel is expected to arrive later this year so keep it locked and loaded right here for more to come as we are your destination for everything action in 2022 and beyond!
