SHRAPNEL: Jason Patric & Cam Gigandet Enlist for Director William Kaufman’s Newest Bullet Laced Actioner!

By: John M Jerva

While we wait for more news on the action-thriller The Channel, which hails from Daylight’s End and Sinners and Saints director William Kaufman, we’ve got some breaking news on another upcoming project which sees him reuniting with Daylight’s End scribe and Action-Flix favorite Chad Law.

The newest movie is called Shrapnel and we’ve just received official confirmation that Jason Patric and Cam Gigandet have enlisted to star in the film which sees a father played by Patric embark on a do or die mission to save his daughter who goes missing in Mexico. Gigandet will play a Marine comrade who helps Patric out when authorities are useless in helping. Expect mass casualties and bullet riddled carnage to ensue per usual with a William Kaufman joint. They had me at Shrapnel. I’m all in. Check out the official press release below!

Premiere Entertainment Group (PEG), a Los Angeles-based sales, production and financing company, has announced that Jason Patric (Sleepers, Narc) and Cam Gigandet (Twilight, The Magnificent Seven) have signed on to star in action thriller SHRAPNEL which recently began principal photography.

Patric will play a rancher who crosses the border in search of his missing daughter who mysteriously vanishes during a trip to Mexico with her best friend. He decides to take matters into his own hands, with the help of a former Marine buddy (Gigandet), after the local authorities provide little help and he discovers that they are in cahoots with the dangerous cartel behind his daughter’s disappearance.

William Kaufman (The Hit List, Jarhead 3) is directing from an original screenplay by Chad Law and Johnny Walters.

Elias Axume is producing for Premiere Entertainment, which handles worldwide sales, with Al Bravo for Al Bravo Films. Premiere’s Carlos Rincon serves as executive producer alongside Stuart Alson for ITN Films. Matthew Helderman and Luke Taylor are also on board as executive producers for BondIt Media Capital, who provided financing.

“We are thrilled to have Jason join the project,” said Premiere CEO Elias Axume. “He’s a terrific actor with wide range who will elevate the film, which we hope will become a breakout hit.”

Recent Premiere original productions include BLACK WARRANT starring Tom Berenger, BLOWBACK starring Randy Couture and Cam Gigandet, and THE COMMANDO starring Mickey Rourke and Michael Jai White which was recently released in the U.S. by Saban Films.

Patric is repped by The Kohner Agency, Brillstein Entertainment Partners, and Goodman, Genow, Schenkman, Smelkinson & Christopher, LLP.Gigandet is repped by Agency for the Performing Arts (APA), Luber Roklin Entertainment, and Joey Stanton at Vybe Trybe.

Shrapnel is officially on my radar so expect more coverage to come here at Action-Flix when more details become available.
