ASSAILANT: Redbox Entertainment Readies a March 22nd Release for the Thriller Starring Chad Michael Collins & Casper Van Dien

By: John M Jerva

Chad Michael Collins of the Sniper franchise is back this Tuesday as Redbox Entertainment is set to release his newest thriller Assailant on their digital platform as well as exclusively on DVD at their kiosks. Also starring Casper Van Dien, the film was helmed by Tom Paton who is best known for directing Black Site and the more recent 400 Bullets.

Assailant follows a British couple, Zoe and Jason, who book a private cruise in the Caribbean in hopes of rekindling their relationship and saving their marriage.

After a seemingly harmless bar fight between the husband and a mysterious drifter, the situation devolves into a dangerous game of cat and mouse. The couple must fight together to save themselves from the Assailant.

The film was shot in the islands of the Federation of Saint Kitts and Nevis under a far-reaching six-picture production deal between SR Media and Nevis Island Administration.

Producer Philippe Martinez added, “We are thrilled that Redbox is releasing this unique thriller directed by Tom Paton. Shooting In St Kitts and Nevis was key to the spectacular look of the film.”

Casper Van Dien looks absolutely devious here as he plays a most dangerous game with a young couple trying to put the spark back in their marriage. This is a different type of role for Collins who is normally carrying heavy artillery in his Sniper films as well as the best selling video game Call of Duty so I’m digging the switch he’s making here acting wise.

The complete cast includes Poppy Delevingne (Kingsman: The Golden Circle) as Zoe, Chad Michael Collins (Sony’s Sniper franchise, Call of Duty) as Jason, Casper Van Dien (All American) as Michael, and Jeff Fahey (Lost) as Henry. Paton wrote the screenplay as well as directed the film.

Releasing this Tuesday only on Redbox, check out the official trailer below.
