We’ve got some traction on the awesome sounding action-thriller Silent Night which will see Hong Kong action guru John Woo return to this side of the pond. Reports coming out of the trades has confirmed that the film, which will contain not one word spoken, is filming now as we speak (pun intended).

The movie stars Suicide Squad’s Joel Kinnaman as a father who enters the criminal underworld to avenge the death of his son. It’s a simple action premise which helps being that no dialogue will be uttered from any of the cast members.

This will be Woo’s first North American production since 2003 and his first movie all together since he directed the Hong Kong actioner Manhunt back in 2017.

Woo’s daughter Kim, who manages his profile on the social media site, posted on Instagram that the movie is now filming and showed off a picture of Woo onset enjoying a quieter moment. You can see the post here.

This will definitely be one to look out for as it is quite ambitious and it will be great to see how they pull it off. Fans can expect the usual balletic chaos and guns blazing action that the iconic filmmaker is known for and this will certainly show off Kinnaman in a brand new light.

Woo is an icon in action cinema with such films as The Killer and Hard Boiled being genre classics. Woo traveled here to make movies like Broken Arrow, Face/Off and Mission: Impossible II but after Paycheck with Ben Affleck, Woo returned to China to make films up until now.

No other cast members have been announced but expect that to change in the future as cameras are now rolling.

Silent Night sounds truly original and epic and Kinnaman has proven himself in the genre. Under Woo’s expert tutelage, this one sounds like an instant classic.

Keep it locked and loaded right here here for more on the set of Silent Night as we are your destination for everything action in 2022 and beyond!
