VIOLENT NIGHT: David Harbour is a Santa Who’ll Die Hard in the Upcoming Holiday Themed Actioner!

By: John M Jerva

I’m always on the lookout for some fresh Christmas action flicks and it looks like we have a new contender in the David Harbour (Black Widow, Extraction) led Violent Night. The film comes from director Tommy Wirkola (Dead Snow) and it looks like a team of mercs have met their match in a Santa who won’t say die and is looking to spread some high-octane holiday cheer.

Violent Night was actually announced back in November so excuse me on my tardiness in reporting the film to you all.

The official synopsis reads:

A team of elite mercenaries breaks into a wealthy family compound on Christmas Eve, taking everyone inside hostage. But the team isn’t prepared for a surprise combatant: Santa Claus (Harbour) is on the grounds, and he’s about to show why this Nick is no saint.

Sounds like a winner to me and the cast surrounding Harbour is pretty solid as well. They consist of Beverly D’Angelo (National Lampoon’s Vacation), and Alexis Louder (Copshop) who was sensational in that movie with Gerard Butler and Frank Grillo. Newer additions include Cam Gigandet (Tom Clancy’s Without Remorse) and Edi Patterson (The Righteous Gemstones) as well as Alex Haskell who is a newcomer.

The script was penned by by Patrick Casey and Josh Miller who are best known for Sonic the Hedgehog.

To entice you even more about the project, veteran stunt and action maestro David Leitch is serving as producer along with Kelly McCormick via their 87North Production Banner. You know what that means. The action will definitely have an 87Eleven flair to it.

I love the title and the play on Silent Night and to see Harbour dressed up as Santa and kicking some mercenary ass sounds like instant classic to me.

Keep it locked and loaded for more to come on Violent Night as we are your destination for everything action in 2022 and beyond!
