It’s been exactly one year since we first heard word that MCU Star Anthony Mackie would be headlining a TV series adaptation of the popular Twisted Metal video game series. It’s been radio silent since the news first broke but now we gave some traction to report courtesy of Deadline.
Deadpool scribes Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick are responsible for the originals take on the franchise. According to the site, the Peacock streaming service has officially ordered the series to debut exclusively on their site and we also have some new synopsis details as well as Mackie’s character in the show.
Twisted Metal will focus on a motor-mouthed outsider who is offered a chance at a better life, but only if he can successfully deliver a mysterious package across a post-apocalyptic wasteland. With the help of a trigger-happy car thief, he’ll face savage marauders driving vehicles of destruction and other dangers of the open road, including a deranged clown who drives an all too familiar ice cream truck.
In regards to who Mackie will be playing, well Deadline also served up a healthy dose of 411 to tease fans for the upcoming series.
Mackie will be playing John Doe, a smart-ass milkman who talks as fast as he drives. With no memory of his past, John gets a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to make his wish of finding community come true, but only if he can survive an onslaught of savage vehicular combat.
There isn’t an official episode count at this time but it was stated that each episode will running approximately 30 minutes on length. The series is in its early stages so we won’t be expecting this one on the near future but we will keep you updated.
Keep it locked and loaded right here for more on Mackie and Twisted Metal as we are your destination for everything action in 2022 and beyond!
