I’m only three episodes in on HBOMAX’s Suicide Squad spin-off Peacemaker but I’m having one hell of a time with it. To start, I love how James Gunn and company have brought back the TV series intro. You remember those right? Back in the 80’s and 90’s, all the coolest shows had a opening credits complete with music and a montage of the show and cast. Peacemaker not only brings it back but it’s an instant classic with some truly groovy dance moves from Cena and the entire cast. I still don’t know how they filmed it with a straight face.

The show is just flat out kick ass and now we officially know that there will indeed be a second season for Cena and company to create more havoc and collateral damage in the name of peace!
Not much is known about the sophomore season but it is confirmed that Gunn will write and direct all the episodes so it’s in some pretty capable hands. We will have to wait and see who else returns and how many episodes will fill the next season. Gunn shared the news on social media.
Cena stars along with Steve Agee, Danielle Brooks, Robert Patrick, Jennifer Holland, Chukwudi Iwuji, and Freddie Stroma. Other cast members include Lochlyn Munro, Annie Chang, Christoper Heyerdahl, Elizabeth Faith Ludlow, Rizwan Manji, Nhut Le, Aison Araya and Lenny Jacobson.
The series which expands on Cena’s Peacemaker from the newest Suicide Squad film was an instant hit for the streaming service. It’s a delicious blend of action, adult humor, comic book vibes and wackiness and I’m loving that DC and Warner Bros. is taking the more mature approach to their IPs on the streaming circuit.
I’ll let you know what I think when I’m done with the whole thing but it’s won me over so keep it locked and loaded right here for more follow as we are your destination for everything action in 2022 and beyond!
In the meantime, check out the glorious throwback opening credits to the show with the sweet song Do Ya Wanna Taste It from the group Wig Wam! I’m trying to perfect the dance steps as we speak.
