MORBIUS: The Line Between Hero & Villain Blurs in the Newest Trailer for the Sony/Marvel Adaptation

By: John M Jerva

It’s been a whirlwind week as I’ve posted no less than five reviews and seven interviews so I was bound to miss something. Well no disrespect to Sony or Marvel but a new trailer for Morbius dropped last week which stars Jared Leto in the title role of the vampire anti-hero. The lines between hero and villain are blurred so check out the newest footage for the upcoming comic book adaptation!

One of Marvel’s most compelling and conflicted characters comes to the big screen as Oscar® winner Jared Leto transforms into the enigmatic antihero Michael Morbius. Dangerously ill with a rare blood disorder and determined to save others suffering his same fate, Dr. Morbius attempts a desperate gamble. While at first it seems to be a radical success, a darkness inside him is unleashed. Will good override evil – or will Morbius succumb to his mysterious new urges?

Helmed by Daniel Espinosa from a story and screenplay by Matt Sazama & Burk Sharpless, Morbius also stars Matt Smith Adria Arjona Jared Harris Al Madrigal and Tyrese Gibson.

The newest tease definitely peeks my curiosity and I love the cinematic references as we see an image of Spider-Man on the side of a wall. Leto even name drops Venom at the end of the trailer so it definitely looks like these characters are merging which will be enticing for fanboys. It’ll be interesting to see if Sony can jumpstart their Marvel universe once again after failing after their last Spider-Man film with Andrew Garfield.

Morbius, which has been delayed many times due to COVID, is finally going to see a release this January on the 28th so get ready for the next Marvel legend to crash the party.
