It’s been an interesting road taken for the Fast and Furious franchise and even though the films are a mega blockbuster series, there has definitely been bumps in the road to say the least. One huge pot hole was the well publicized feud between stars Vin Diesel and Dwayne “The Rock” Jackson.
It’s no secret that the two mega egos didn’t get along on set and it all culminated with Johnson calling out Diesel for being what The Rock said was less then professional on set. Johnson has stated with gusto that he was done with the initial Fast and Furious films although he’s still doing the Hobbs and Shaw spin-offs with Jason Statham.
Things took an interesting turn over the weekend as Diesel sent out a heartfelt message to Johnson on social media urging the star to forgive and forget and be a part of the last films in the series. Check out Diesel’s post below.
Diesel put all his cards on the table and emphatically pleaded for Johnson to reconsider.
Johnson hasn’t responded to the post as of this reading so it’ll be interesting to see what transpires from here on in. I, for one, thought that the last film was sorely lacking due to both Johnson and Statham’s absence and even though The Stath showed up in the stinger scene, it left me wanting more. It’s clear that Statham will probably be involved as he was in the post credits scene of F9.
Johnson did publicly announce that going public with his feelings wasn’t the best thing to do and dies regret how he handled it. Make no mistake, he did mean what he said though.
I’m sure Johnson will make a formal response to Diesel’s plea so it’ll be fascinating to see what transpires. If he does respond, I’ll update this post ASAP.
Justin Lin is returning to helm the last two films and has said that it will be a two part send off for the franchise. Chris Morgan is penning number ten and even though it’s not confirmed, the core cast in Vin Diesel, Tyrese Gibson, Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster, Ludacris, Nathalie Emmanuel, and Sung Kang are expected to return.
Even though F10 and F11 are set to close out the initial franchise, fans need not worry as there are multiple plans in place to keep it revving along through spin-offs and other means and we already know that a sequel to Hobbs And Shaw with Johnson and Statham is in the works along with a female driven movie featuring the eclectic femme fatales in the universe.
I enjoy these movies for what they are and that’s pure escapist action and even though they have become a joke to some people, they still deliver what is advertised and that’s pure summer escapist entertainment.
Keep it locked and loaded right here for more on this developing situation as we are your destination for everything action!
