One of Sylvester Stallone’s best films is one that a lot of people probably haven’t seen. Nighthawks starred Stallone as NY cop Deke DaSilva who, with partner Billy Dee Williams, goes after a serial killer played by a menacing Rutger Hauer. It’s a classic in its own right and one that is certainly overlooked.
Well the film is set to get a reboot TV series from Sly himself and the actor who will be taking over the role of tough NY cop Deke DaSilva is none other than Frank Grillo! That’s right! The hardest working actor in action cinema is set to take on Sly’s iconic role and Stallone is involved.
Grillo, who is making the rounds promoting Copshop which he stars in with Gerard Butler and he broke the news during an interview and the big reveal that Stallone is helming the project along with being featured in it as well.
Grillo also commented on how excited he was to be at a point in his career where he will be working with one of his idols.
It’s no secret that I’m a huge Frank Grillo fan and he’s one of the elusive interviews I’d love to do one day. Grillo elevates any movie he’s involved in and I’m totally on board with this and even more so that Stallone is involved. It’ll be interesting to see who else they get to be in it especially the role of the dreaded terrorist Wulfgar who Hauer played to perfection.
With Stallone involved, this has the makings of being something truly special. Stallone is also set to star in the fourth Expendables film which shoots in October.
Copshop opens in theaters only this Friday!
