CODE 8: PART II- Robbie & Stephen Amell are Back in the Sequel to the Hit Sci-Fi Thriller!

By: John M Jerva

The first Code 8 film started as a short concept film which materialized into a full fledged feature after a rousing crowd funded campaign. Filmmaker Jeff Chan created an immersive world similar to the X-Men with a Sci-Fi vibe and it resonated with genre fans.

Stephen Amell, best known for The CW’s Arrow, starred in the movie along with his cousin Robbie Amell and it was announced recently that both stars and director are returning for a follow up aptly titled Code 8: Part II. Further details arising from The Hollywood Reporter now confirm that the sequel will land at Netflix.

Per THR: Code 8: Part II, from Collective Pictures, follows the journey of a teenage girl fighting to get justice for her slain brother at the hands of corrupt police officers. After becoming a witness to the cover-up, she becomes a target and enlists the help of an ex-con (Robbie Amell) and his former partner-in-crime (Stephen Amell). Together, they face a highly regarded and well-protected police sergeant who will use every tool to prevent himself from being exposed.

Like in the first film, Robbie Amell, Stephen Amell and Chan will once again produce the film with XYZ Films serving as executive producers with production expected to start up in Canada later this year.

The original Code 8 told the story of:

4% of people living in fictional Lincoln City who possess special abilities and are often confronted by advanced, militarized police technology. It’s a sci-fi fantasy about the extraordinary power that we as individuals hold, versus the technological superiority of the institutions that we live within.
