Here’s a war picdture that has some bite to it. Based on true events comes the thriller Saltwater: The Battle for Ramree Island which hails from director Steve Lawson and stars Glenn Salvage who is best known for such indie action pics as Left For Dead and The Silencer. The film, which is available on DVD and Digital, tells the incredible story of Allied soldiers, who while on a mission to retake an island off the coast of Burma, must contend with a lot more than just enemy combatents. Check out the key art and trailer below!

A band of soldiers in search of a secret Japanese ammunition store face off against deadly saltwater crocodiles in the swamps of Ramree Island. Inspired by actual events during World War 2.

The film, which is being billed as a cross between “Jaws and Dog Soldiers,” also stars Charlie Bond, Steven Dolton, Ryan Harvey, Jas Steven Singh and David Hon Ma Chu. Lawson also wrote the screenply which takes its cues from a real life mision.

Personally they had me at deadly crocodiles, Jaws and Dog Soldiers and from the trailer footage, Salvage gets to prove that he still has it when it comes to the onscreen fisticuffs. An added bonus indeed.

I love different takes on the war genre and this being a true story makes it even more intriguing.

The film is now available to own on DVD as well as Digital so check out the ensuing carnage in the trailer below!
