It’s hard to believe actor Nicolas Cage can make a wilder movie anymore but the star who can be seen now kicking a little ass in Jiu Jitsu is about to unveil just that with his latest offering titled Prisoners of the Ghostland. The film marks the English language directing debut of Sion Sono and we have some first look images to show off below!

Written by Aaron Hendry and Reza Sixo Safai, Prisoners of the Ghostland stars Cage as notorious criminal Hero, who is sent to rescue an abducted woman who has disappeared into a dark supernatural universe. They must break the evil curse that binds them and escape the mysterious revenants that rule the Ghostland, an East-meets-West vortex of beauty and violence.

After making Mandy which could be best described as a fever dream on acid and his upcoming Willy’s Wonderland where he takes on killer animatronics at an amusement park , it’s hard to believe that Cage could make an even wilder movie but it’s probably time to buckle up with one as well as Cage described some of the craziness in a recent interview:

The script was unlike anything I’ve ever read before. It might be the wildest movie I’ve ever made, and that’s saying something. It’s out there. I wear a skintight black leather jumpsuit with grenades attached to different body parts, and if I don’t rescue the governor’s daughter from this state line where they’re all ghosts and bring her back they’re gonna blow me up. It’s just crazy. It’s way out there.”

The film also stars Sofia Boutella, Bill Moseley, Ed Skrein, Young Dais, and the one snd only Tak Sakaguchi from Re:Born and Versus so his participation is the one I’m most excited about. Let’s hope he’s used to his best and gets to show off some of his lethal skills.

Prisoners of the Ghostland is poised and ready to make it’s official debut at next year’s Sundance Film Festival. The event which will be both virtual and on set is set to run from January 28th to February 3rd.

Hopefully we get done footage for this one STAT and a more concrete release schedule for the film as this one has been on my must see list ever since I first posted about it on my previous site.

Keep it locked and loaded right here for more to come as we are your destination for everything action and wild Nicolas Cage movies!
