By: John M Jerva

I did mention that it was a good week for trailers. We had Legacy of Lies with Scott Adkins, I Am Vengeance: Retaliation with Stu Bennet and Vinnie Jones and The Old Guard with Charlize Theron. Now we have a thrilling new look at the real life war thriller The Outpost which stars Scott Eastwood in the harrowing tale of soldiers facing suicidal odds at the hands of an enemy force that outnumbers them in Afghanistan. Take a look at the first footage below!

In this military thriller, based on The New York Times best-selling non-fiction book, The Outpost: An Untold Story of American Valor from CNN’s Jake Tapper, a tiny unit of U.S. soldiers, alone at the remote Combat Outpost Keating, located deep in the valley of three mountains in Afghanistan, battles to defend against an overwhelming force of Taliban fighters in a coordinated attack. The Battle of Kamdesh, as it was known, was the bloodiest American engagement of the Afghan War in 2009 and Bravo Troop 3-61 CAV became one of the most decorated units of the 19-year conflict.

The film was supposed to make its debut at the South By Southwest Film Fest but since that event like all others have been cancelled due to the Coronavirus outbreak, Screen Media has now acquired the movie and is set to release it on Digital and VOD this Independents Day which is a great way to honor the brave men whom the story is about.

War veteran Rod Lurie helms from a script penned by Eric Johnson, and Paul Tamasy. The film is based on the book written by Jake Tapper titled The Outpost: An Untold Story of American Valor.

Also starring are Orlando Bloom, Caleb Landry Jones, Jacob Scipio, Jack Kesy, Cory Hardict and Mel Gibson’s son Milo who was awesome in the Black Ops thriller All The Devil’s Men.

The Outpost will hit the ground running on July 3rd courtesy of Screen Media so check out the new trailer below!
