Let me just get nostalgic with you all for a moment and tell you about a time way back in the early 80’s when my family first got cable and HBO. I remember it like it was yesterday and it was a Sunday night when my dad and I sat down to watch a brand new movie called Lone Wolf McQuade which starred action god Chuck Norris. I was around 11 years old and really hadn’t watched more adult oriented action flicks and let me just tell you that this movie opened my eyes to a whole new world.
Norris was at the top of his game as he played Texas renegade lawman J.J. McQuade and I marveled at the action set pieces and most importantly the climatic fight between him and David Carradine. I really was new to action and with that martial arts and that one scene alone filled my heart with all the love that I would have for the genre.
OK, enough of that. Lets talk about the newly announced special edition Blu-Ray of the film that will be coming out later this month from Scorpion releasing. The film has hit Blu-Ray before but I have a feeling that this version will be the one that I will want to add to my collection and we have the awesome new cover art for you that you can view below courtesy of Blu-Ray.com!
Legendary renegade Texas Ranger J.J. McQuade is fierce with his gun – but lethal with his black belt! When his teenage daughter’s life is threatened by hijackers attempting to steal a truck full of weapons and ammunition, the job becomes personal for McQuade. Uncovering a colossal arms-struggling outfit that is selling guns and ammo to terrorists all over the world, McQuade come face to face with its kingpin, Rawley Wilkes a world-renowned martial arts expert who has never lost a battle! Does the Ranger have what it takes to save his daughter and his honor – or has he finally met his match, and ultimately his demise?
The site does say that the film will be releasing later this month but there is no exact date as of yet and there is no news yest of any special features but hopefully the new release will give us a little something. We do know that the disc will contain an all-new 2K remaster of the film and will contain the original asoecy ratio of 1.85:1.
Once more details drop, I will have them for you but in the menatime check out my FOOT FIST FRIDAYS post I did last year for the epic and climatic fight between Norris and Carradine and watch it below!
