The newest version of Mortal Kombat is currently shooting in Australia and today we have official confirmation that Warner Bros. and New Line have bumped up the release date for the film by seven weeks!
The movie which reinvents the popular fighting video game was set to hit theaters on March 5th, 2021 but now it will be unleashed earlier on January 15th where it will now go head to head with 355 which is a female driver action thriller from Universal Studios.

Aquaman Director James Wan serves as producer on the film with Simon McQuoid making his feature film directing debut. The cast of the new version includes THE RAID star Joe Taslim as Sub-Zero, Chinese-Canadian actor Ludi Lin as Liu Kang, Mehcad Brooks as Jackson ‘Jax’ Briggs, Tadanobu Asano as Raiden, Sisi Stringer as Mileena, Chin Han as Shang Tsung, and Hiroyuki Sanada as Scorpion. Other cast members include Jessica McNamee (THE MEG) as Sonya Blade, Josh Lawson as Kano. Lewis Tan of Wu Assassins is also set to star in a mystery role that has peeked everyone’s interest.
Plot details are a secret right now but there is word that the film will center on “a male protagonist who becomes drawn into the interdimensional tournament, and begins to realize his true potential as a result.”
Word also has it that this version will differ from the PG-13 films from the 90’s and will feature the iconic and bloody fatalities from the video game which sounds awesome to say the least.
Keep it locked and loaded right here for more to follow and prepare for Mortal Kombat!
