Warner Bros. made a lot of fans unhappy today when they made the announcement that they would not be at Hall H for this year’s SDCC but Director Patty Jenkins sent out a little present for the masses in the form of a new poster for Wonder Woman ’84 which shows off Gal Gadot’s new body armor in an awesome display of colors in support of Pride Month so by all means, check her out below!
Jenkins, along with the poster reveal, also stated that publicity for the film won’t kick in until this December so we have a long wait to see our first footage. The new entry is also said to be more of a standalone movie ala Indiana Jones or James Bond and not a sequel to the original.
In a statement made earlier in an interview with Vulture, producer Charles Rosen commented on the concept of not being a sequel by saying “[Patty Jenkins] was just determined that this movie should be the next iteration of Wonder Woman but not a sequel. And she’s definitely delivering on that. It’s a completely different time frame and you’ll get a sense of what Diana-slash–Wonder Woman had been doing in the intervening years. But it’s a completely different story that we’re telling. Even though it’ll have a lot of the same emotional things, a lot of humor, a lot of brave action. Tugs at the heart strings as well.”
Wonder Woman 1984 sees our iconic DC heroine in the 80’s where she will take on a new enemy in Cheetah played by Kristen Wiig. Chris Pine also returns as Steve Trevor while Pedro Pascal (Disney’s The Mandalorian) also stars.
Wonder Woman 1984 hits theaters on June 5th of next year!
