TOP GUN: MAVERICK Co-Star Jon Hamm Says Action Footage is “Mind-Blowing!”

It’s safe ti say that TOP GUN: MAVERICK is one next year’s most highly anticiapted films. To see Tom Cruise jump back into the fighter’s seat as maverick will certainly be a sight to behold and we now have it on good authority from co-star Jon Hamm that the action will definitely be off the hook!

In a recent interview with Collider, Hamm talked about the footage that he has seen. “They’re using some technology on this that is never before seen. We’re shooting the movie in, I think, 6K. So it’s incredibly hi-def. The aerial footage is mind-blowing. And it’s mostly practical. There’s not a lot of CG. Those guys are really up in planes and getting thrown around in multiple Gs.”

Not a lot of CGI should impress skeptics and Hamm alos talked about being part of a sequel to such an iconic movie.  “It’s a very strange experience but it’s been a wonderful experience as well. It’s basically getting the whole team back together. Unfortunately, [original director] Tony Scott is unavailable, but they’ve achieved a very similar vibe to the first one. I think it’s gonna be, for the people who love the first movie I think it’s gonna’ be very interesting to watch. It very much takes the story in a different direction. But I think for the new fans it’s gonna be something very cool, too. I’ve seen some of the footage, it is out of this world.”

The sequel focuses on Miles Teller’s character Bradley Bradshaw who is the son of Maverick’s late flight partner Nick “Goose” Bradshaw. Maverick is now a flight instructor and he takes Bradley ubder his wings so to speak. The film will also address modern air combat and the use of drones in today’s war landscape.

TOP GUN: MAVERICK also stars Val Kilmer as ICEMAN, Jennifer Connelly, Glen Powell, and Ed Harris. It hits theaters next year on June 26th!
