Once again, who remembers the time way back years ago when Liam Neeson said he was going to retire from making action movies because he was getting too old to do them? I swear I remember reading it and also hearing him talk about it but here we again chatting up another…you guessed it…Liam Neeson led action-thriller!
Neeson is in the driver’s seat (literally I might add) for his latest full throttle actioner titled The Mongoose. Starring as a former soldier who takes matters into his own hands when someone attacks a person close to him, Neeson must evade the law as he’s unfortunately put into a bad situation for a right reason. Accused of a crime he didn’t commit and with nothing to lose, a war hero leads law enforcement on a cross-country car chase with the help of his brothers in arms and a sympathetic public rooting for his getaway.
Mark Vanselow directs with a stacked supporting cast including Marisa Tomei, Ving Rhames, and Michael Chiklis who looks to be having a great time chewing up the scenery playing a very unlawful police officer.
TRAILER TACTICAL REACTION: Liam Neeson is cinema royalty so as long as he wants to go full throttle with action films I’m in. This one looks like something different as Neeson goes high speed to evade the law. It’s like Smokey and the Bandit infused with Taken so what’s not to love here. The supporting cast is top tier and Marisa Tomei is always welcome and I do miss the hottest Aunt May ever in the Marvel Universe. Even though this looks more GTA than Call of Duty, it still looks like tire ripping fun.
THE MONGOOSE is only in theaters October 30!
