Angel Studios is banking hard on their upcoming theatrical action-comedy Runner which unites current action star Alan Ritchson with fellow genre leading man Owen Wilson. Check out the latest and dare I say final trainer for the film which hits theaters this September!
A former soldier is thrown into a brutal race against time when a critical medical delivery makes him the target of a ruthless cartel. With betrayal closing in from every side, he must survive the chase and deliver his cargo before an innocent child runs out of time.

Veteran stunt pro turned filmmaker Scott Waugh (Expendables 4, Act of Valor) directs and the supporting cast includes Rodrigo Santoro, Leila George, Kate Box, Peta Sergeant, Geraldine Hakewill, Cecilia Toussaint, and Scarlett Crabtree. Waugh has received some unfair criticism with his film sin the past, but I am a fan and he is a veteran stunt pro so there’s no denying that he does know adrenaline on film and how it should look.
TRAILER TACTICAL REACTION: I’ve pretty much said it all already in my latest TTR for Runner but allow to elaborate more. This looks like pure, unfiltered, throwback, buddy action greatness with Ritchson and Wilson looking to have tremendous chemistry. I know some will scuff at the PG-13 rating but that is never a death nail if the action is still rocking with enough bombastic chaos. I love that the finale looks to take place in a hospital as it gave me Hard Boiled vibes and yes while it won’t reach the greatness of that John Woo gem, Ritchson is in full on beast mode here with Wilson deploying his usual pitch perfect comedic timing. Oh and the bird is a chef’s kiss so I’m all in and if more faith based projects could still deliver a message without beating it over the viewer’s head then there is a future for positive, uplifting films that still kick dubious amounts of ass.
