I continue to catch up on all things action ever since I started my new position which has hindered my website dearly but as I finally let the dust settle, it’s time to give away some martial arts infused Blu-Rays! Releasing a while back from Well Go USA were two kinetic and brutal titles that featured amazing martial arts action. Lone Samurai and Blazing Fists are two totally different actioners, but both deliver brutal, immersive and visceral carnage on a grand scale. LONE SAMURAI: In the 13th century, a lone samurai finds himself stranded on a desert island with nothing but his regrets to keep him company in the existential action-thriller LONE SAMURAI, debuting on Digital, 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray™ and DVD March 17 from Well Go USA Entertainment. Just as he is ready to give up and give in, a violent cannibal tribe sparks his survival instinct and the film proceeds with “… unflinching, uncompromising and unforgiving action sequences and violence” (Action-Flix). Written and directed by Josh Waller (Raze, McCanick), LONE SAMURAI stars Shogen Ito (December) and Yayan Ruhian (Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens, The Raid: Redemption).
BLAZING FISTS: From the legendary cult filmmaker Takashi Miike comes the story of Ikuto and Ryoma, troubled teens who meet in juvenile detention and make a plan to fight their way to freedom. Inspired by MMA fighter and Breaking Down founder Mikuru Asakura, the two boys make a plan to compete in Asakura’s popular tournament. When released, they discover that they’ll have to defeat their past outside the ring, before they can be champions inside of it…
