Ever since it was first announced way back in March of 2024, I have been waiting rather impatiently for the new sci-fi military banger War Machine starring Reacher lead Alan Ritchson. From director Patrick Hughes (Expendables 3), the Netflix actioner has since assembled a stellar cast including Dennis Quad, Esai Morales and Jai Courtney and now we have fresh intel on the film’s launch date on the streaming service.
News broke today as Netflix rolled out a massive release calendar announcement and War Machine is set to hit in March. Ritchson leads the film which tells the story of a group of Army Rangers who must battle an unimaginable threat while engaging in boot camp.
War Machine’s official synopsis reads: During the final stage of US Army Ranger selection, an elite team’s training exercise turns into a fight for survival against an unimaginable threat. The film is a definite must see for the year and it will officially start streaming on March 6th. Stephan James, Blake Richardson, Keiynan Lonsdale and Daniel Webber round out the supporting cast.
Ritchson has established himself as a force to be reckoned with in action cinema after the success of Prime Video’s Reacher and this film will hopefully bring the rain when it comes to blistering set pieces and unflinching military action. Hughes is a solid genre director as well and I always thought he got a raw deal with Expendables 3 and consider that entry a damn fine action flick in the franchise.
War Machine has been a long time coming so hopefully the wait will pay off with a solid action pic full of bullets, bravado, testosterone and barbaric alien combat. It is true that a lot of Netflix’s original films have been hit or miss (with more misses than hits) but here’s hoping this one is on the good end. Lock ‘N Load as I’m sure a trailer is forthcoming very soon!
