Every so often, a movie manages to swoop in under my radar and I’m pretty sure I heard of this one before, but it left the memory banks as A24 has launched the new trailer and Poster for The Death of Robin Hood starring Hugh Jackman. Director Michael Sarnoski delivers a dark, somber and anti-hero aesthetic as he looks to turn the classic hero into anything but. Jackman, who is riding high with his return as Wolverine as well as his latest tearjerker Song Sung Blue is set to deliver a career making performance as this Robin Hood isn’t any kind of hero. The new trailer definitely scores with the artistic vibe that A24 is known for, and it looks smaller in scale and scope with a more intimate look at a story that has been told many times before but never like this.

THE LEGEND WAS A LIE
Grappling with his past after a life of crime and murder, Robin Hood finds himself gravely injured after a battle he thought would be his last. In the hands of a mysterious woman, he is offered a chance at salvation.

Jackman stars along with a stellar, A list worthy cast including Jodie Comer, Bill Skarsgård, Murray Bartlett and Noah Jupe. Michael Sarnoski, who is best known for other solid films like Pig with Nicolas Cage and A Quiet Place: Day One, helms from a script he also wrote.
The trailer serves up what audiences have come to expect from the A24 studio as this offering looks smaller and more intimate with a not so worthy portrayal of a timeless character. Jackman’s Robin Hood is a tragic take figure at the end of his life who is full of massive regret and remorse over all the people he has killed. Will this style work with fans who have come to love Hood? We shall see but it is a daring and bold new vision.
