One of the biggest surprises to emerge out of the 2024 class of action cinema was without a doubt Bren Foster’s directorial debut Life After Fighting. We all knew that Foster was an elite martial arts action star, but he further cemented his status by forging himself into a full-blown filmmaker having not only starred in the ambitious actioner, but he also wrote, produced, action choreographed and directed the film. Let me tell you that it was a serious and legit filmmaking debut and was one of the best action pics of the year.
Ever since the film came out, everyone has been waiting to see what Foster’s next pic would be and it has arrived in the form of the action/drama titled Relentless. Once again, Foster is pretty much wearing all the hats on this one as he stars in and directs the film which sounds equally ambitious just like the aforementioned Life After Fighting. The film is now in production, and we have some lively intel on it for all of you so partake below in all of the glorious martial arts action craziness to come!
In Relentless, “a former soldier/fighter (Foster) is forced back into the brutal underground arena when he’s faced with the fight of his life – not against an opponent, but against time itself. Driven by love and the desperate need to protect his family’s future, he steps into a world where every hit could be his last. As the line between sacrifice and self- destruction blurs, his journey becomes a raw and emotional battle for redemption, legacy, and the enduring power of love.”

Foster’s production banner Spinning Plates Productions is once again behind the film, and it was just made known that the Hamburg located independent distributor Spirit Media has recently acquired the global rights on Relentless and will also serve as co-producers as well as distribution sales rep for the movie in all territories excluding Australia and New Zealand.
“This is the kind of film we’ve been waiting for – a project that excites us creatively and allows us to expand our business globally,” Nico Dautzenberg, Managing Director at Spirit Media stated.
Joining Foster in the film are Matt Passmore (Jigsaw, North Shore, The Glades), Amanda Righetti (Friday the 13th, Reagan, The Mentalist), Aaron Glenane (Snowpiercer, Killing Ground), Callan Mulvey (Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Outlaw King) and Matuse (The Fall Guy, Mad Max Furiosa, Last King of the Cross). Quite the international cast that Foster has gathered for the film which they are describing Relentless as “high-octane martial arts action with deeply human storytelling.”
I have no doubt that Foster will deliver the goods in his junior effort as Life After Fighting was a deeply involving mix of high stakes and emotional drama fused with the most brutal and hard-hitting martial arts action ever captured on screen. The climax alone was a literal 45-minute marathon of some of the most extreme, jaw dropping fight action ever and the characters were all high class making the audience care about what happens to the good guys and seeing the bad guys get theirs.

Besides writing, starring and directing, Foster produces again alongside Navid Bahadori per their Spinning Plates banner, and it will be associated with Broken Yellow and Bluestone Media, Spirit Media, Eclectik Vision, and Alceon Entertainment Partners, with support from Screen NSW (per FilmInk).
