Say what you will about the current state of Mel Gibson and the troubles he has had in past years, but there is no denying that he is truly one of the greatest Hollywood icons still kicking today. Sure, he had a bad day a while back and unfortunately it was documented in the eye of public court like so many celebrities face during their lifetime, but he is still a star even in his twilight years. Gibson has since moved on from his private troubles and has even atoned in some ways for it so I think people should do the same as well. Nobody is perfect and just because celebrities are out in the open does not mean they are not human and without faults themselves from time to time. I digress however so moving on.
With all that said, Gibson is back and looking rather visceral and raw in his latest survival thriller title Hunting Season, and he is channeling his inner bad ass bravado that made him a megastar in the Lethal Weapon franchise and of course the iconic Mad Max trilogy of films that he was in so watching this new trailer is like watching Gibson of old get down and dirty and anytime we can watch him take out the trash, it’s a glorious day for movies. Scroll below for the new footage and poster below!
A reclusive survivalist (Gibson) and his daughter rescue a mysterious, wounded woman who washes ashore. Their lives are disrupted when a ruthless drug lord hunts the woman, forcing the father and daughter into a dangerous struggle for survival.

Raja Collins (Crescent City) directs and Gibson stars as reserved survivalist Bowdrie along with his daughter Tag (Sophia Hublitz) who welcome an unfortunate world of hurt upon themselves when Tag rescues a mysterious woman (Shelly Hennig) from near death. Well, it turns out that said woman has some very bad people looking for her and they will slice their way through anyone who gets in their way. This, of course, leads Gibson to go all Paul Bunyon on their asses and we as the audience are the winners for it. Jordi Molla and SEAL Team’s A.J. Buckley round out the main cast.
Gibson has been teasing a fifth Lethal Weapon for some time and even hinted that the late, great Richard Donner passed the mantle to him to direct upon his unfortunate passing but it would appear that it will never happen as co-star Danny Glover’s action days are pretty much behind him. Gibson is still active and on full auto though so hopefully we get savage Mel a few more times after this before he decides to hang it up.
