Michael Jai White is one of today’s most prominent action stars, and star in general, who commands the screen whenever he appears. White never phones it in and puts his heart and soul into his roles both in the dramatic and action departments. He’s never afraid to try something different and he is just as successful behind the camera as he is in front of it and with that, he’s bringing the bravado and swagger to his latest directorial effort Trouble Man that also sees him playing a P.I. on the case when an R&B star goes missing. Think of this as White’s version of the ultra-cool Shaft but with a serious skill set.

Jaxen (starring Michael Jai White), a former cop turned Atlanta PI, is hired to find the missing R&B star Jahari. His investigation uncovers her disappearance is connected to a larger conspiracy, forcing him to question those around him & his own past.

White performs the hat trick here as he not only stars in the film, but he also directed and co-wrote the script with Michael Stradford along with producing with Craig Baumgarten and Ron Robinson. White stars as hard-hitting former cop turned P.I. Jaxon along with Cliff “Method Man” Smith, Mike Epps, Gillian White, Orlando Jones, and La La Anthony.
White also directed two of his Never Back Down flicks along with the highly regarded Outlaw Johnny Black and is definitely apt in translating action onto the screen. Trouble Man looks to fuse bullets, brawn and bravado with White’s signature dry wit as his character of Jaxen slices through a gauntlet of thugs and assorted criminals to solve the case. White is the quintessential leading man and always delivers the hardcore action. Trouble Man just made its world debut at the 2025 American Black Film Festival located in Miami and will now reach the mases this August when it hits theaters, VOD and digital.
