Filmmaker, musician and tactical maestro Johnny Strong has always believed in quality over quantity and thus his filmography is very small due to the fact that he wants to do it right. His technique is guerilla filmmaking at its most extreme and because of this, the results are stripped down, bare bones savage indie action cinema in its purest form. Strong has starred in some hard-hitting indie action fare over the years after he first appeared in the original The Fast and the Furious and now, he’s assembling his very first sequel ever to one of his best military themed actioners Warhorse One. The lone survivor of a failed SEAL team mission, Strong’s relentless character of Master Chief Richard Mirko defied the odds to save a little girl from an army of insurgents and now he’s back to dish out more punishment in the follow up titled Warhorse One: Paid in Blood.
To celebrate the 4th of July holiday this past Friday, Strong released a new teaser for the second film in his spec ops warrior franchise hailing from his Operator Films production banner and there’s no denying that the enemy will meet their maker as Mirko is locked and loaded and going kinetic for another suicide mission. Check out the new footage below!
The plot for Warhorse One: Paid in Blood is currently not known but we do get a glimpse of what to expect as Mirko uses a little deception to take down his adversaries. Once again, Strong is behind all facets of the production as he not only stars in the film but he also wrote the script and directed the movie as well.
A teaser poster was unveiled a while back when the movie starting production and it was known as Warhorse One: Badlands but you certainly get the bullet infused, bravado vibe Strong is going for.

The plot for the first film saw Strong’s “gunned down Navy SEAL Master Chief guide a child to safety through a gauntlet of hostile Taliban insurgents and survive the brutal Afghanistan wilderness.” The movie was filled with realistic tactical action with a retro throwback action tinge to it as well as super charged human emotion and the ending was a culmination of the entire picture and the hardship that Strong’s Mirko went through.
When the first movie was released in 2023, I had the distinct pleasure in talking with Strong about what it took to get his vision to the screen and the masses. Strong is a man of few words but his love for cinema and making films his own way definitely comes through. Check out our exclusive chat on The Action Fix Podcast below!
