This trailer hit late last week but i am finally catching up on my action news after my weeklong hiatus for the Memorial Day weekend which saw my oldest daughter graduate and my youngest celebrate her tenth birthday. Both milestones and both putting tears in my eyes. Manly tears of course. Who would I be though, if I didn’t showcase the Queen of Martial Arts Cinema Cynthia Rothrock and her final trailer for her passion project Black Creek which looks to savagely blend genres with its blending of hyper fierce martial arts action and western tropes. Rothrock looks sensational as always and she made sure she stacked the cast with some of the best that onscreen fighting had to offer in Keith Cooke, Don “The Dragon” Wilson and sadly, the late, great Richard Norton who sadly passed away in March. This film now looks to be a fitting tribute to Norton who has been by Rothrock’s side for years so proceed to scroll below and check out the cast in action as the fists, feet and bullets shred the air!
Black Creek is a dark, gritty, dystopian, western action martial arts film featuring a strong ‘no-holds-barred’ female protagonist portrayed by action film star Cynthia Rothrock.
The plot centers around a sheriff’s sister who seeks revenge against the terrifying leader of a group of outlaws after discovering he brutally murdered her brother, his wife, and other family members in a gritty southwestern town.
Shannon Lenier helms along with German martial arts powerhouse Mike Möller who also dishes out the film’s brutal and hyper-kinetic action design. A labor of cinematic adrenaline love, Rothrock not only stars in the picture but she also co-wrote the project along with Robert Clancy and Jeff Gress and produced the project from the ground up.
I don’t know about any of you old school action freaks but there’s just something mesmerizing about seeing a true action star in Rothrock spinning in all directions firing away with her pistol and then breaking into bone shattering CQB action before decimating a villain with a pitch fork. Can you say chef’s kiss. I know I can.
The newest trailer delivers more of what it promises as Rothrock’s star studded martial arts cast delivering what they are best known for. We didn’t know that this would be one of Norton’s last performances in a movie as the icon unexpectedly passed away in March so this will be bittersweet as well watching him duke it out one last time. Norton had it all including the charisma, skills and fierce generosity that made him a special person and will surely be missed.
The martial arts action nostalgia meter is in full effect as Rothrock has starred with all of her leading men before. Norton was a staple in action films during the VHS boom and appeared in several films with Rothrock including the China O’Brien films which also included co-star Keith Cooke. Wilson and Rothrock teamed for the actioner Death Fighter also featuring extreme martial arts champion Matt Mullins. In other words, martial arts fanatics are going to get their fill for bone smashing action and beatdowns with this one. Veteran action heavy Patrick Kilpatrick also stars along with R. Marcus Taylor to round out the sensational cast.
It’s truly a great time for Rothrock’s fan base as she is also starring in the newly released Lady Scorpions which sees her pummeling more onscreen baddies. I’m smelling double feature when this one finally comes out.
