At around 11am this morning eastern time, Marvel Studios via their social media accounts began an ambitious live-streaming video which was confirmed as a major ANNOUNCEMENT. The video in question began showing off a soundstage where actor chairs started to showcase major MCU players. Roughly around every ten minutes or so, new chairs would pop as it was confirmed that this would be the cast for Avengers: Doomsday, which is readying principal photography soon with a release date set for May 1, 2026.
This was the ultimate name drop today, and I waited until they were finished with the list and as we all suspected, it all leads to Doom!

The biggest surprise to be had with all this is that the original X-Men from the 20th Century Fox era would be included as well and we have the photo to confirm it!
Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellan are back as Professor X and Magneto respectively along with Rebecca Romijn who was the original Mystique. Alan Cumming is back as Nightcrawler with James Marsden reprising his role of Cyclops as well.
A big surprise and one that I totally am on board with is that Channing Tatum, who crushed it as Gambit in Deadpool & Wolverine, will indeed be back for Doomsday. We all know the story of how Tatum was to play the iconic X-Men in his own movie only to lose it when Disney acquired 20th Century Fox, so this is justice for Tatum as well as fans who have been clamoring to see him in the role. Tatum’s name was revealed alongside Pedro Pascal who is the new Reed Richards AKA Mr. Fantastic, and you can see their name reveals below!
This was no surprise but the one and only Robert Downey, Jr. was the last name to hit emphasizing the fact that it will all lead to Doom!
Now I’m sure there will be those out there that will complain about certain names not being involved but something tells me that this isn’t the full list and there will be many more surprises to come in the future. We all know how Kevin Feige and Marvel Studios works so I will bet that they are keeping some names a secret for now.
