March 28th sees the official release of the new modern western style actioner Day of Reckoning starring Billy Zane (Sniper, Titanic), Zach Roerig (The Vampire Diaries) and action superstar Scott Adkins (Take Cover, John Wick: Chapter 4). Adkins leads the charge as a ruthless criminal looking to rescue his wife, played by Cara Jade Myers, incarcerated by the law and he’s will to start a war to get it done. Zane and Roerig star as the U.S. Marshall and Sheriff respectively who are assigned to guard the prisoner at all costs leading to an all-out siege. What follows is a kick ass, old school throwback action pic featuring ample bloody shootouts and brutal fisticuffs galore culminating in a balletic bloody finale.

On the verge of losing his wife and his job as sheriff, put-upon lawman John Dorsey reluctantly teams up with bullish U.S. Marshall Butch Hayden to hold outlaw Emily Rusk hostage. A battle of wills ensues as Emily turns the posse on themselves, but as her marauding husband and his gang approach, Emily and John realize they will need each other to survive.

Day of Reckoning is set to hit theaters exclusive and it’s a welcome sight to see Adkins go rogue as he’s been playing the hero a lot as of late. Zane can never turn in a bad performance so here’s hopping Adkins is let loose as he will undoubtedly lay waste to many in this one.
Adkins stars as Kyle Rusk with Zane playing Marshall Butch Hayden in the pic. Adkins is described as a violent husband who is the leader of a bank robbing biker gang so I’m sure he had a lot of fun with it and will get savage in the fight sequences. This one has a reversal of fortune vibe here as it resonates a little of Close Range which starred Adkins as the anti-hero. Now he’s in the other side of one hell of a house invasion so expect mass destruction, a healthy barrage of bullets and some hyper-fierce CQB action.
