This news hit last week but I am in catch up mode right now and I must talk about Omar Sy once again after spilling the beans on his new Extraction Universe series for Netflix. Sy, continuing his string of action-packed titles which was first launched last year with John Woo’s remake of The Killer, is back in full throttle mode along with Kerry Washington for director Joe Carnahan’s latest titled appropriately enough Shadow Force (love that title BTW). Lionsgate is readying a coveted May 2nd theatrical release which will put it head-to-head with Marvel’s Thunderbolts+ which offers no pressure at all.
Shadow Force “follows the duo who once were the leaders of a multinational special forces group called Shadow Force. They broke the rules by falling in love and go underground in order to protect their son. With a large bounty on their heads, and the vengeful Shadow Force hot on their trail, one family’s fight becomes all-out war.”
Sounds nifty enough and Carnahan has proven his action chops behind the camera with output like The A-Team, Copshop and Boss Level with the latter two starring Frank Grillo so I have some hope for this one. Carnahan also co-wrote the script with Leon Chills so he’s wearing more than one hat once again on this one.
Additional cast members include Mark Strong, Da’Vine Joy Randolph and Cliff “Method Man” Smith. New artwork has surfaced via Deadline and Lionsgate which you can see below and prepare for atrailer to hit very soon!
