Bodybuilding pro turned action star Daniel Stisen has made quite the splash in the action genre ever since his big debut in the post-apocalyptic action pic Last Man Down. The formidable star has parlayed a successful career in the fitness arena into adrenaline lace entertainment on the screen and now he’s back again as his latest thriller Stand Your Ground has locked up US distribution ahead of the AFM. In his latest, Stisen plays a former Navy SEAL who goes to war with those that are decimating the place he calls home. Just like Stisen’s previous efforts which also include The Siege, expect stripped down, down and dirty, gritty action at its most primal level.
Epic Pictures has secured U.S. rights, and the film tells the story of “an ex-SEAL in a small American town, who uses the stand-your-ground law to take revenge for his family’s murder. Daniel Stisen (Last Man Down, Those About to Die) stars as Jack Johnson a former SEAL living a quiet life with his wife and child, Peter Stormare (John Wick, Day Shift) stars as Bastion, the Boss of the local criminal organization that is responsible for John’s family murder and Eric Roberts (Babylon, The Expandables) stars as Earl, John’s neighbor and old time pal.”

Boasting a solid genre cast that includes Michael Bay favorite Peter Stormare as well as Eric Roberts himself, Stand Your Ground was directed by Fansu Njie, who also helmed Stisen’s Last Man Down. Craig Walser (Rambo Last Blood) penned the script, and the film was produced by Highfield Grange Studios and Daniel Stisen Productions.

I’m becoming a huge fan of Stisen and the Schwarzenegger vibes he’s pumping into his action movies. Clearly those will make comparisons, but I believe that Stisen is generating his own path and executing his own machismo and bravado into his roles. I enjoyed both Last Man Down and The Siege and you can read my approval of both films below!
I also had the honor of speaking with Stisen for the release of the Siege and we chatted about his entry into action cinema, his bodybuilding career and the action. Check out the full Action Fix Podcast interview below!
The movie is expected to drop for consumer consumption in the 2nd quarter of 2025 so lock n load and expect more to come! In the meantime, check out Stisen in action from his recent action pic The Siege!
