Superman is going to be piloting the iconic robot built from five mechanical lions. That’s right. After he becomes the only one in Chad Stahelski’s Highlander reboot, the star is going to tack up as the lead in the live action Voltron film that is being directed by Rawson Marshall Thurber.
The report was announced yesterday and even though the plot details are being kept under wraps, fandom worldwide knows that the live action Voltron movie will be based on the iconic 80’s cartoon and subsequent Netflix reboot about a team of space explorers who each pilot a special robotic lion that forms one large alien busting robot.
MGM Amazon is behind the sure to be CGI heavy live action film with Todd Lieberman per his Hidden Pictures, Bob Koplar, Thurber and David Hoberman banking the project. Ellen Shanman is penning the script and Thurber is best known for helming Netflix’s Red Notice which starred The Rock, Ryan Reynolds and Gal Gadot.
