Luc Besson is up to his old tricks once again as the man behind such successful franchises like The Transporter and Taken is ready to dish out some more pedal to the metal carnage in the new action-thriller Weekend in Taipei. Hailing from director George Huang, the thriller stars Luke Evans and Sung Kang from the Fast & Furious franchise in a tale of star crossed lovers who collide once again in one faithful weekend in Tapai. Bullets and fast cars are in order so scroll below for the footage!
Official Synopsis: John Lawlor is a pit-bull DEA agent married to his job – there’s not a bad guy he can’t stop, nothing he won’t sacrifice to close out a case,” reads the official synopsis. “Joey Kang is a top ‘Transporter’ in Taipei – fast-driving and fast-thinking, she’s difficult to pin down, impossible to catch. The two of them weren’t supposed to fall in love, but fate brought them together… before forces of crime and corruption tore them apart. Now, 15 years later, fate puts Joey and John on a collision course during a weekend in Taipei. And the two will discover that the only thing harder than falling in love… is falling back in love.

The trailer certainly services the action goods and this one grabs the audience’s attention with a sizzling kitchen fight keen to The Raid where Evans deploys his particular skill set after his cover is blown. The sequence utilizes everything and the kitchen sink as Evans brandishes various everyday items like knives, utensils, cooking pans and the tried-and-true blowtorch to take out his assailants. There looks to be no shortage of action so this flick is ready to ramp up upon release. Besson may stick to the usual tropes he’s employed in the past but if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.
Gwei Lun-mei, and Wyatt Yang round out the cast with Besson handling production duties. Weekend in Taipei is set to explode in theaters on November 1st!
