Australia is representing as of late when it comes to action cinema and the land down under is seriously making a case for adrenaline and all things that go boom. This year alone has seen martial arts Star Bren Foster crushing it with Life After Fighting and now we have the Hemsworth clan representing once again with a new action pic that looks to satisfy fans looking for tactical combat thrills mixed either CQB action design.
Luke Hemsworth is bringing some cred to his family name having starred wit his brother Liam in one of this year’s best action films in Land of Bad and now he’s front and center delivering some onscreen punishment in his own starring vehicle titled Gunner which sees him appearing alongside Hollywood icon Morgan Freeman.
A new trailer has been unleashed showcasing Luke’s action chops so scroll below and watch him go ballistic on the bad guys with firepower and fisticuffs!
Official Synopsis: War veteran Colonel Lee Gunner takes his two sons on a camping trip with their uncle Jon, to reconnect with them after being at the battle front for so long. The trip goes awry when Jon stumbles over a tripwire and sets off an explosion, alerting a gang of violent bikers in the midst of a massive drug operation. Not anticipating Gunner’s elite combat skills, the gang members are taken out one by one. The boys try to go for help, but end up right in the arms of Dobbs, the son of kingpin Kendric Ryker who runs the organization from prison. With no one but himself to turn to, an enraged Gunner wreaks havoc to rescue his two sons, until he gets to the top and confronts Ryker.

When are the bad guys going to get it in their heads that if you’re going to kidnap a man’s family in order to break their boss out of prison, make sure that said man isn’t a former Green Beret with a brutal skill set. Oh well, at least if they keep doing that, we’ll have some throwback style violence to enjoy.
Hemsworth looks solid and the action looks stripped down, savage and punishing wity Luke representing the family name. I’m looking forward to the eventual team up where we see all three brothers, Chris, Liam and Luke starring in a slam bang actioner. Come on Hollywood, make it happen!!
Gunner comes to us from Kickboxer franchise director Dimitri Logothetis and the trailer packs all the bravado, old school theatrics and hyper-violence one needs for a Saturday night good time of watching with friends and beer. I’m all in so where do I sign up?
Watch Luke Hemsworth become the next action star when Gunner hits Digital on August 16th!!!
