One of the best action-thriller TV series of all time has to be without a doubt FOX’s 24 which starred Kiefer Sutherland in what’s probably his most successful project of his career. Each season ran 24 episodes and each episode was one hour in the day of bad ass CTU operative Jack Bauer who had limited time to stop a terrorist attack of epic proportions. The show ran for nine seasons between 2001 and 2014 and spawned a movie and an unsuccessful spin-off with a newer character played by Coey Hawkins.
Sutherland’s Jack Vauer was an energizer bunny of with a ferocious and deadly skill set and he found himself battling law enforcement authorities just as much as the extremists looking to attack the U.S. Bauer was simply one of the best and most lethal action series characters ever created. Plus no one could scream like Bauer and he was downright nasty to get the job done.
In a recent interview with MSNBC’s Squawk Box last month, Imagine Entertainment co-founder Brian Grazer teased that a movie based on the series was in early development. Mow this has been talked about before so take it with a grain of salt.
“Imagine has always played in that zone where there is that high probability chance that it will be successful in movie theaters. It’s great for us, because we’ve built, over 30 years, over 100 different products and brands, whether it’s ‘Backdraft,’ which I’m now going to do today with Glen Powell, or whether it’s ’24,’ a movie that we’re going to do in a very interesting way with Disney and Fox,” Grazer stated in the interview.

Take note that he also mentioned that the Backdraft reboot that has been rumored for a while is also moving forward with Twisters star Glenn Powell set to lead. Grazer also mentioned that imagine and himself have an interesting idea on how to do the 24 movie. The biggest setback is that how do you keep the 24-hour gimmick alive in a 2 hour plus feature film format. I’m very intrigued and curious to see how this plays out. A 24 movie would certainly bring in a whole new generation of audience while, but it would have to be loyal to true fans of the series a swell. There’s no doubt that the filmmakers would need to implement the most important aspect of the series so who knows how it will all play out.
There is absolutely no other intel on the film or if Sutherland will return to his iconic role, so we wait and see how this all unfolds in the future.
In the meantime, check out Sutherland at his most bad ass self as Jack Bauer from the sequel series 24: Live Another Day below!!!
