Whi here remembers a few weeks back when The Rock was under fire from multiple sources saying that he was unprofessional on movie sets? You do? Well, most of America doesn’t because you don’t hear anything about it now and it looks like it’s all water under the bridge as Rock is now filming The Smashing Machine and now, we have a new trailer for his holiday themed family flick Red One which sees him teaming up with Captain America himself Chris Evans.
It appears that Santa (Code Name Red One- catchy, isn’t it?), played by the great and always game J.K. Simmons is missing, and with-it Christmas is in some very big and serious trouble. The Rock is Santa’s bodyguard and Evans is the best tracker in the business, although he’s Level 4 Naughty Lister, so these two are going to have to put aside their dislike for another and save Santa and Christmas so the kids have presents come Christmas morning. It’s not going to be easy though as they will have to do battle with some fierce Kaiju looking snowman who seem to like tropical weather and Krampus himself who loves a good game of slap. Check out the new trailer below as two of my favorite actors look to take Christmas lore and legends and proceed to turn it upside down and throw it on its head!
After Santa Claus – Code Name: RED ONE – is kidnapped, the North Pole’s Head of Security (Dwayne Johnson) must team up with the world’s most infamous bounty hunter (Chris Evans) in a globe-trotting, action-packed mission to save Christmas.

Along with Rock, Evans and Simmons, the stacked cast also includes Lucy Liu, Kiernan Shipka, Bonnie Hunt, Kristofer Hivju, Nick Kroll, and Wesley Kimmel. Jake Kasdan who also directed the Rock in Jumanji: The Next Level, helms once again and looks to put a little boot in the ass for the holidays this season.

OK, let me just say that the trolls will be out in force to bash this movie with their crystal balls as they say how much it will suck before even seeing it, but I think it looks fun and The Rock and Evans make for a great Tango & Cash looking duo with some witty banter and chemistry. Simmons looks like a kick ass Kris Kringle like Kurt Russell, and I love anything that he is in as he elevates even bad films. Plus, I’m always game to watch new holiday movies with my kids so bring it on naysayers. I’ll just delete the negative comments anyways so don’t bother. Like I say, I watch all kinds of movies and a lot of them don’t have body counts so here’s hoping this one becomes a yearly tradition like Russell’s The Christmas Chronicles movies. My family and I love those flicks and this one looks to be right up there.
