CinemaCon is officially underway and with it comes many advanced announcements about future projects. CinemaCon for those not in the know is a convention hosted in Las Vegas and is centered around movie theaters, their owners and more. Basically, it’s an excuse for famous people to get together along with the studios to chat up exciting new projects. Today saw the Lionsgate panel and the emergence and title of the next Guy Ritchie film starring Henry Cavill, Jake Gyllenhaal and Eiza Gonzalez as well as audience reactions to an extended preview of The Crow. Let’s lock n load and do this!
Henry Cavill, Jake Gyllenhaal & Eiza Gonzalez Enlist for Guy Ritchie’s IN THE GREY!

First up, we have a new title for Guy Ritchie’s next offering which sees Henry Cavill, Jake Gyllenhaal and Eiza Gonzalez teaming for a new action-thriller now called In the Grey. The film also has a release date set for next year on January 17th and will follow the A list stars as a group of operatives who operate “in the grey” hence the title and are on a mission to retrieve some stolen cash that is in the billions. “A group who operates in the middle of criminality and the law” reads the official tagline. The movie will feature Ritchie’s standout humor infused with stellar action set pieces and judging from his last outputs like Wrath of Man and The Covenant, I’m beyond stoked for this one. Rosamund Pike will also star in the movie. Sign me up!
The Crow Shows Off Extended Look to Rave Reviews!

Love it or hate it (even before you damn well see it) but The Crow is officially on the way and with word that it will now open in August instead of June 7th which is the same day as Bad Boys Ride or Die. The film, which sees Bill Skarsgard take over the role of doomed protagonist Eric Draven showed off an extended to look to lucky audience members and word is that they loved it. I actually liked what the trailer showed off and it looks bloody damn good with some cool Wick like action and Skarsgard, along with his role in Boy Kills World, is looking like a serious contender for new age action star. Only time will tell on this one but word of mouth out of this week’s CinemaCon is a promising sign.
Keanu Reeves is Confirmed for the JOHN WICK Spin-Off Ballerina!

During the Lionsgate panel at CinemaCon, the studio revealed that the spin-off film to the John Wick Universe, AKA Ballerina, is confirmed to take place between Chapters 3 and 4. The film stars Ana de Armis in what might be a potential franchise role. They also confirmed the worst kept secret and Keanu Reeves is definitely in the movie. Now just how much he is remains to be seen but I’ll take as much of Mr. Wick as I can get. Ballerina was originally supposed to hit on June 7th of this year but was pushed back until June of 2025 as Chad Stahelski was brought in to add more action set pieces to the film. Unfortunately, we have an even longer wait to see if this one is worthy of being in the same universe as John Wick.
