A lot of websites don’t do posts specifically for the release of one sheets or posters, but I always thought that key art is one of the best ways to sell a film and over the decades, we have seen some pretty gnarly advertising in that respect. I feel that posters are truly one of the last bastions of a time gone era when movie houses and the product they offered were the best sources of escapist entertainment. Sure, nowadays, we still have theaters and movies playing in them, but it isn’t the same and a lot of times, posters fall by the wayside. Even the good ones.
Case in point, I give you the new one sheet for Guy Ritchie’s upcoming WWII action-comedy The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare which assembles a rogue unit of death bringers in the likes of Superman himself (yes, he’s still The Man of Steel to me) Henry Cavill along with Eiza González (Ambulance), Reacher’s Alan Ritchson (rocking the bow and arrow) and Snake-Eyes himself Henry Golding. They are the world’s first ever special forces unit, and they are about to bring the hellfire mixed with the one liners in the boisterous and epic war pic. Take a peek at the war ready crew below!

The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare definitely brings the Dirty Dozen like vibes even though there isn’t 12 of them this time but that’s just a technicality and the initial trailer, which you can view again below, promises us nothing short of bullets, bravado and brotherhood with dabs of unapologetic Guy Ritchie humor and wit for good measure. I mean how can you not love bodies and ammo flying when Queen’s Another One Bites the Dust is jamming in the background. The movie boasts its plot from a real-life unity of bad ass operators who took out German U-Boats during the second world war. James Bond creator Ian Fleming was a part of the real unit that took on the Axis forces.
Based upon recently declassified files of the British War Department and inspired by true events, The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare is an action-comedy that tells the story of the first-ever special forces organization formed during WWII by UK Prime Minister Winston Churchill and a small group of military officials including author Ian Fleming. The top-secret combat unit, composed of a motley crew of rogues and mavericks, goes on a daring mission against the Nazis using entirely unconventional and utterly “ungentlemanly” fighting techniques. Ultimately, their audacious approach changed the course of the war and laid the foundation for the British SAS and modern Black Ops warfare.
The new poster is certainly rockin’ the 80’s retro action vibe and it screams out Force 10 from Navarone which happens to be one of my all-time favorite war films. As long as they keep dishing out old school key art like this, I’ll be there to promote it and show it to ya.
The rest of the cast includes Alex Pettyfer (In Time), Hero Fiennes Tiffin (After series), Babs Olusamokun (Dune), Henrique Zaga (Beyond the Universe), Til Schweiger (Inglourious Basterds) and Cary Elwes who will forever be known for the fantasy classic The Princess Bride.
Lionsgate’s The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare hits theaters on April 19th!
