It’s been a very dry 2023 when it comes to news about future movie and TV projects as the ongoing SAG strike looks to be ongoing for quite a while. In terms of new projects or casting news, it’s been a barren wasteland but there are a few snippets here and there to quench genre fans’ thirst for something news.
Deadpool comic creator Rob Liefeld gave us some hope on Thursday when he released a proof of concept teaser for a new live action adaptation of another comic book creation of his. This one being BLOODSTRIKE which he first gave us back in 1993 which told the story of an elite Black Ops team of super soldiers who were once alive. To help him bring this ultra-cool comic to life, Liefeld is enlisting stunt professional Phillip J. Silvera to helm the movie once it gets going.

Silvera is no stranger to comic book movies or TV series having worked on the first Deadpool movie as well as the first two seasons of Daredevil. The elite stunt professional was instrumental in creating the iconic oner sequences in the hallways in the first two seasons that are heralded as some of the best fight sequences in comic book film or TV. Silvera has been a source for stunt and fight choreography and has also worked on other high profile projects such as Terminator: Dark Fate, The Man From Toronto, and the recent Paramount+ series HALO.
The two met on the set of Deadpool where Silvera told Liefeld about his knowledge of all things comics and Liefeld is using Silvera’s expertise to make what will hopefully be one kick ass movie based on the Image Comic property.
In terms of plot, BLOODSTRIKE deals with Cabbot who is the leader of a covert unit of Black Ops warriors that have already been killed in combat. These dead soldiers have been revived Universal Soldier style by a top secret military operation called Project: Born Again. Now alive again, these members carry out the missions that can’t succeed by anyone else.
Liefeld revealed via Instagram a rather ass kicking proof of concept teaser that showcases just how extreme and brutal the fight action is going to be. Take a view of it down below along with Liefeld’s enthusiastic statement about teaming up with Silvera.
“I have waited to connect with a director with the same zeal for the material, someone who can nurture it to the finish line, be a true partner in the process” stated Liefeld, who mapped out how he met the experienced stunt coordinator and fight choreographer when they were on the set of Deadpool back in 2016 while filming and what transpired from there. This blossoming partnership was also helped due to the fact that Silvera was there at the beginning of Liefeld’s career in comics and Silvera expressed his love for all things comic books with BLOODSTRIKE being a popular one.
The above teaser is enough to get any fanboy excited for what is to come as it is an animated sequence of sheer brutal unarmed combat. It’s certainly exhilarating and hopefully the live action result will keep that spirit and usher in some adult action in cinema.
Lock N Load for more future Intel to follow on BLOODSTRIKE as we are your destination for all thing’s action!
