I would be lying if I said I wasn’t depressed due to the fact that Yellowstone is coming to an end. The Kevin Costner led series was one of the best things on television but alas nothing lasts forever and anything great lasts even less longer. Costner is known for making some pretty epic westerns back in the day like the Oscar winning Dances with Wolves and my personal favorite Open Range. I mean seriously, that moment when he shuts Kim Coates up by shooting him in the head has to go down as one of the greatest kills in American Western Movie History.
Costner is back and this time he’s bringing even more epic vibes to his 2 part western Horizon: An American Saga. A teaser is now online for the film which will see Part 1 hit theaters on June 28, which will be followed up by Part 2 on August 16 of next year courtesy of Warner Bros. Pictures and New Line Pictures which made the official announcement on Thursday. Check out Costner doing what he does best with a six shooter and shotgun in the teaser below!
In the great tradition of Warner Bros. Pictures’ iconic Westerns, “Horizon: An American Saga” explores the lure of the Old West and how it was won—and lost—through the blood, sweat and tears of many. Spanning the four years of the Civil War, from 1861 to 1865, Costner’s ambitious cinematic adventure will take audiences on an emotional journey across a country at war with itself, experienced through the lens of families, friends and foes all attempting to discover what it truly means to be the United States of America.

I do believe everyone in Hollywood stars in this one as Costner is joined by Sienna Miller, Sam Worthington, Jena Malone, Owen Crow Shoe, Tatanka Means, Ella Hunt, Tim Guinee, Danny Huston, Colin Cunningham, Scott Haze, Tom Payne, Abbey Lee, Michael Rooker, Will Patton, Georgia MacPhail, Douglas Smith, Luke Wilson, Isabelle Fuhrman, Jamie Campbell Bower, Alejandro Edda, Wasé Winyan Chief, Michael Anganaro, Angus Macfadyen, Jon Beavers, Alex Nibley, Kathleen Quinlan, Etienne Kellici, Amos Jason Charging Cloud, Bodhi Okuma Linton, Gregory Cruz, James Russo, Jeff Fahey, David O’Hara, Chris Conner, Leroy M. Silva, Bernardo Velasco, Tom Everett, Glynn Turman, and Giovanni Ribisi. Seriously again. That’s epic in casting alone.
Horizon marks Kevin Costner’s first time directing a movie since the aforementioned Open Range in 2003. He also helmed Dances with Wolves, which earned the Hollywood icon an Academy Award for Best Director. Horizon is set to “span 15 years in the settlement of America’s Western frontier, and focus on both the settlers as well as the Indigenous groups that first occupied the land.”
There’s just something about a Kevin Costner led western that seems right. Costner wears all 10 gallon hats with this one as he stars in, wrote and directed the passion project. Lock N Load and water those horses for more Intel to follow!
