The SAG-AFTRA strike is sadly still ongoing and it’s getting real interesting to see how Hollywood recovers from this unfortunate incident. One setback due to the current times is the lack of casting news as it’s self explanatory as to why there isn’t any.
Well, we finally have a slice of Intel for ya and it concerns the iconic Samuel L. Jackson who is on active negotiations to play an ass kick President akin to Harrison Ford in Air Force One in an upcoming actioner that will also star Suicide Squad alum Joel Kinnaman. The film is called The Beast and it sounds like one hell of a ride, literally.
Now it’s important to note that this project has an interim agreement from SAG-AFTRA and was also packaged for sales prior to the strike so it’s getting a pass. There are some films that are able to get made during the strike for certain reasons and The Beast will be one of them. Kinnaman will portray a character named Taft who is one of Jackson’s Secret Service agents.
The official synopsis reads: “When a militia of unidentified hostiles coordinates a coup against the U.S. presidency, the President (Jackson) uncovers the extent of The Beast’s highly classified offensive capabilities. Separated from his wife, the President must learn to control The Beast — and the monster inside himself — in order to save his life, the life of Secret Service agent Taft (Kinnaman), and America.”
James Madigan, who was the second unit director on The Meg and Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, is set to helm The Beast from a script penned by Umair Aleem (Kate).
Jackson actually played the President in a physically demanding action flick called Big Game back in 2014 but that movie is not well known amongst the masses. The movie centered on a tough as nails teenager who rescuers the Commander In Chief when Air Force one is shot down near his camp site. I’m all for Jackson as a bad ass leader of the free world but he has to be allowed to drop some F bombs along the way.
Lock N Load for more ass kicking Intel MotherF&ckers as we are your Action Fix and Jackson said so!
