Sony has unveiled the first official key art and red band trailer for KRAVEN The Hunter which stars Aaron Taylor-Johnson as the notorious enemy of the Amazing Spider-Man. One of Spidey’s most feared enemies is finally making its way to the theaters with the spin-off film later this year and audiences can officially check out the film’s new key art and footage via Sony Pictures and Twitter which showcases its titular anti-hero who is ready for his biggest hunt and adventure so prepare yourselves as comic book movies are about to get bloody and adult oriented once again!
Sony’s Kraven the Hunter features Aaron Taylor Johnson (Bullet Train, Godzilla) as Sergei Kravinoff, the real name of Spider-Man’s biggest rival in the comics. Taylor-Johnson did get a chance to chat about the infamous character to Variety a while back and offered up some Intel on what his version of the character will be which might upset fanboys because it will be a significant departure from the comics. “He is not an alien or a wizard. He’s just a hunter, a human with conviction,” Taylor-Johnson stated. Taylor-Johnson also went on to convey that Kraven is “an animal lover and protector of the natural world in the movie.” Fans know that in the comics, KRAVEN is the 180 opposite of that so it should be interesting how it’s received. Non loyalists won’t care just as long as it’s a good film and I am a fan but once again accept change as long as it’s still a good representation and above all an enjoyable film!
J.C. Chandor (A Most Violent Year, Triple Frontier) helms the film from a script penned by Matt Holloway (Iron Man, Transformers: The Last Knight, Uncharted). A top notch supporting cast including Russell Crowe, Ariana DeBose, Christopher Abbott, Alessandro Nivola, Fred Hechinger, and Levi Miller also star alongside Taylor-Johnson.
In the above Sony red-band trailer, Taylor-Johnson demonstrates that he’s the classic Spider-Man for a new generation as well as the old. The trailer shows off the movie’s bloodlust as Kraven runs a gauntlet of adversaries and annihilates them with some over the top extreme prejudice and violence. Think Rambo crossed with Tarzan on steroids and you get the concept. I’m sold for now so I’m eagerly awaiting this one. After the failure that was Morbius, I’m cautiously optimistic after viewing.
KRAVEN The Hunter hunts into theaters this October so get those traps ready because the hunt will be on!
