Timothy Olyphant and his take no shit law enforcement officer Raylan Givens have arrived just in time to put a much needed smile on my face as official key art and teaser has landed for the limited series Justified: City Primeval! Rejoice, because throwback justice is on the way!!!
Justified was one of those rare shows that showcases one hell of a lead character, threw him into countless situations of distress and then proceeded to kick ass while talking smack at the same time. Throw in Walton Goggins as Boyd, the preverbal thorn in Raylan’s side and you had the perfect one-two punch combo every week.
Goggins unfortunately is not involved this time around but that’s ok as Olyphant is and his Raylan is about to blow into Detroit and deliver a little old school justice in a new age world. Check him out in action below!
The original series was based on Elmore Leonard’s short story Fire in the Hole, so it would make since that this one is too and this time it’s adapted from another short story titled City Primeval: High Noon in Detroit. The series was developed and showrun by Dave Andron and Michael Dinner and fans are about to follow Raylan 15 years after the events of the original series.
Get psyched because even though he’s older and more pissed off (hey, I think that describes me), he’s still got enough in the clip to get the job done and he may not get out of this one alive, but he’ll go down firing. It’s a new battleground but Givens is treating it like his home turf. I’ve missed this show and it’s action and drama mixed to perfection so this limited series is like a warm hug…complete with sustained muzzle flashes and tracer fire.

Official Synopsis: Having left the hollers of Kentucky 15 years ago, Raylan Givens now lives in Miami, a walking anachronism balancing his life as a U.S. Marshal and part-time father of a 15-year-old girl. His hair is grayer, his hat is dirtier, and the road in front of him is suddenly a lot shorter than the road behind. A chance encounter on a desolate Florida highway sends him to Detroit. There he crosses paths with Clement Mansell, aka The Oklahoma Wildman, a violent, sociopathic desperado who’s already slipped through the fingers of Detroit’s finest once and aims to do so again. Mansell’s lawyer, formidable Motor City native Carolyn Wilder, has every intention of representing her client, even as she finds herself caught in between cop and criminal, with her own game afoot as well. These three characters set out on a collision course in classic Elmore Leonard fashion, to see who makes it out of the City Primeval alive.
Olyphant stars along with his real life daughter Vivian Olyphant who plays his, well, onscreen daughter Willa Givens. Aunjanue Ellis is Carolyn Wilder, Boyd Holbrook (The Predator, Logan) is the antagonist Clement Mansel (The Oklahoma Wildman), Adelaide Clemens is Sandy, Vondie Curtis Hall is Sweety, Marin Ireland is Maureen, Norbert Leo Butz is Norbert, Victor Williams is Wendell, and Ravi Patel is Rick Newley.
Justified: City Primeval premieres this summer on July 18 on FX!
