Can you tell I’m excited to see Extraction 2 starring Chris Hemsworth? After all, I’ve done enough articles on it and the first film was my top dog of 2021. Upon the release of the teaser for the Arno d film which sees mercenary Tyler Rake tackling another do or die mission and this time he’s trying to save more than just one life.

Netflix has unveiled a brand new image from Extraction 2 from former MCU stunt pro turned filmmaker Sam Hargrave which highlights Rake locked in mortal combat as explosions rock behind him. It’s just yet another tease to wet out collective pallets while we wait for June 16th to hit and hopefully we’ll get official key art and an extended trailer to hit in the meantime. Official Synopsis:

After barely surviving the events of the first movie, Rake is back as the Australian black ops mercenary, tasked with another deadly mission: rescuing the battered family of a ruthless Georgian gangster from the prison where they are being held.

Hemsworth reunites with director Sam Hargrave, with Joe and Anthony Russo’s AGBO producing and Joe Russo writing. Golshifteh Farahani reprises her role from the first film, with Daniel Bernhardt and Tinatin Dalakishvili also co-starring. This is a sequel to the first film that was based on the graphic novel ‘Ciudad’ by Ande Parks, from a story by Ande Parks, Joe Russo & Anthony Russo, with illustrations by Fernando León González.

EXTRACTION 2 is produced by Anthony Russo, Joe Russo, Mike Larocca, Chris Hemsworth, Patrick Newall and Sam Hargrave, with Angela Russo-Otstot, Jake Aust, Benjamin Grayson, Steven Scavelli, Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely as executive producers.

Hargrave has only directed two films, including this one, but has essentially thrown his name into the ring for best action director working in the industry today. His time as a stunt pro, which included working with Hemsworth in the MCU, has given the man an unique eye for high-octane action choreography that will lift you off your coach. Hemsworth’s Rake is also fast becoming one of the most popular action heroes out there and this is after we all thought he dies at the end of the first film.

The sequel is said to contain a oner sequence that is even longer than the first one and it’s teased in the official teaser below which launched a few weeks back. Take note moments include Rake beating opponents while his arm is in fire and shouting down a chopper with a mini-gun while on too a speeding train. Makes you think this is the one film this year that can give John Wick Chapter 4 a run for its body count as best action film of the year.
